I’m a recent convert to the Glossy Box! It’s a way of sampling products regularly without spending masses of money, which my bank balance is very grateful for. My clients and friends want to know my recommendations on all kinds of products and since writing this blog it’s become imperative to test and try new products to the market and ultimately talk about them.
When my box arrived I immediately made a bee line for the mascara, well I’m a make-up artist what do you expect? What particularly drew me to this product was the fact that it boasted a water resistant quality. Waterproof mascaras are the bane of my life, I tend not to use waterproof mascaras on a day to day basis as taking it off at the end of the day is much more of an ordeal than normal mascaras and I hate the idea of losing lashes because it’s hard to remove – they’re precious little suckers!! But obviously in the line of business I do, I need a good Waterproof mascara in my kit, and I find that normal mascaras tend to apply and generally look 10 times better than waterproof mascaras and so finding a good one can be a bit tricky. Until now I’ve used Benefit Badgal which in general is very good, it gives great volume and length but can clump if you’re not careful. This could very well replace it possibly!
Jelly Pong Pong says ‘This is not for the faint-hearted. Our first ever mascara is formulated to make eye lashes flutter & flap. Water-resistant, Fairy Lashes makes eyelashes thicker & curvier while allowing them to be spectacularly soft & light. A truly fabulous effect for the woman who wants to emphasize one deep, intense, seductive look.’
APPLICATION
On applying the mascara the wand is a good size, the bristles are a fair length, long enough to reach all lashes but short enough that you don’t end up touching your lids. It coats the lashes quite thinly but builds up easily as the layers dry quite quickly. No clumping for sure which is a personal hate of mine. Adding volume and length to your individual lashes is a must but clumping them together is just horrible which thankfully this mascara doesn’t do. I wouldn’t say it added much length to the lashes but maybe if I continued adding it it might do, I’ll try this another time.
PACKAGING
Unlike most mascaras it comes in a cute box (see pic below) somehow this made me love it even more. It was really hard to throw it away but I felt it was unnecessary to keep it – I mean a mascara doesn’t really need a box does it. Plus the actual mascara tube is purple, doesn’t every girl love purple? It looked lovely in my collection of mascaras.
REMOVING IT
I was quite surprised when it came to removing the mascara because it comes off it bits rather than dissolving like most mascaras. It has more of a gluey rubbery texture when it’s coming off but it doesn’t come away easily and definitely no pulling on the lashes so I wasn’t concerned about losing any of the pesky little fellas!
I would definitely buy this again, it goes on like a normal mascara but with the waterproof attributes and at just £15 to buy it’s quite averagely priced. The only major downside is that it’s not widely sold in the UK. You can buy it online at their shop and there are about 10 UK stockists but none nearby to me, this is very likely to stop me purchasing it in the future which is a shame. Hopefully the company will grow and eventually will be more widely available.
I’m going to start rating my products with stars out of 5 so baring in mind everything I’ve said I would give Jelly Pong Pong Fairy lashes Mascara 4 stars!
